Break out the neon, tease that hair, dust off the legwarmers and prepare to sing every word—because one of the biggest ’80s parties of the summer is coming to Tarara this Saturday, August 1!
For 11 years, The Legwarmers have turned the Tarara Summer Concert Series into a full-blown celebration of the decade that gave us unforgettable music, outrageous fashion and some of the greatest singalongs of all time. Now, during Tarara’s Final Encore season, the hometown favorites are returning for their final performance by the lake—and they are promising to pull out all the stops.
Nostalgia at Its Finest
What can fans expect Saturday night? According to the band, it will be
“a very high-energy tribute to the big hit songs from the 1980s—nostalgia at its finest.”
And when The Legwarmers say high energy, they mean it.
From the moment they take the stage, the show becomes a nonstop journey back to the days of MTV, cassette tapes, arcade games and massive arena anthems. These are the songs you grew up loving, still play at full volume and somehow know every word to—even if you have not heard them in years.
This is not a concert where you sit quietly and watch. The crowd becomes part of the performance, singing, dancing and transforming Tarara into what the band describes as a giant live-karaoke experience.
Yes, You Will Know Every Word
Big ’80s hits like “Don’t Stop Believin’” always bring an enormous reaction, but one song takes on a little extra magic at Tarara:
“(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” from Dirty Dancing.
Maybe it is the music drifting across Shadow Lake. Maybe it is the sprawling lawn filled with friends, families, blankets and chairs. Or maybe it is the summer-camp feeling that only Tarara can create.
Whatever the reason, when that song begins, the entire venue comes alive.
The band members will not be the only ones embracing the decade, either. Many longtime fans arrive dressed in full ’80s fashion, so neon colors, side ponytails, Members Only jackets, scrunchies, acid-washed denim and oversized sunglasses are strongly encouraged.
Go big. The ’80s certainly did.
Relax on the Hill—or Join the Party Up Front
Part of what makes Tarara so special to The Legwarmers is the freedom to create your own perfect concert experience.
Set up camp on the hill with blankets and chairs, relax with family and friends and enjoy the show beneath the summer sky. Then, when your favorite song begins, head toward the stage and jump into the heart of the party for a few unforgettable numbers.
Whether you spend the evening dancing up front or singing along from the lawn, you will feel the connection between the band and the Tarara crowd. That bond is one of the reasons The Legwarmers’ performances here have become such a beloved summer tradition.
A Loudoun Homecoming 11 Years in the Making
The Legwarmers perform extensively, but Tarara has always felt like home. A majority of the band members live in Loudoun County, making this annual concert an opportunity to perform for their families, friends and neighbors.
“This is our 11th year playing at Tarara, and it has always been the cornerstone of our summer concerts,” the band shared. “The folks at Tarara and Bow Tie Strategies are wonderful to work with, and we will miss them dearly.”
That history makes Saturday night about much more than another performance. It is a Loudoun homecoming, a celebration of 11 incredible years and one final opportunity to experience The Legwarmers at Tarara.
This Is the One You Do Not Want to Miss
If you only attend one Tarara show this month, The Legwarmers say to make it this one because they bring something extra when they perform for their neighbors.
And during the Final Encore season, “something extra” means everything they have.
Expect the costumes. Expect the massive hits. Expect nonstop dancing, deafening singalongs and a crowd filled with people who came ready to party. Most importantly, expect one of those only-at-Tarara summer nights we will all wish we could experience again.
The Final Encore season is moving quickly, and The Legwarmers will only take the Tarara stage one more time. Do not wait until Saturday to decide—gather your crew, plan your best ’80s outfits and get your tickets now.
Come prepared to dance. Come prepared to sing. Come prepared to have the time of your life.
